Opening Statement:
In the world today, we have a troubling controversy, a debate that revolves around the actions of our forefathers. According to team opposition today, all we have stood up for all our values, our icons, our cultures have no place within our societies. That they are non-existent. That is where we draw the line, that we see various things within our lives that have purpose. Our first witness is Ork who claims this statement "I have come to perceive, lies in the perception that the solemnity and grandeur of the universe rise through the slow process of unification in which the diversities of existence are utilized, and nothing, nothing is lost." Through this we are arguing that no matter how fruitless some things may be within our world. They constitute an ongoing cycle of development. That there is meaning in life; however small, has also been accepted by the dragon who tells us "go seek out gold and sit on it." Although, here it is used to describe that we should all give up on life since nothing is important it should be seen as quite contradictory. Why would we need gold if all things are unnecessary in life? As a result, we cannot really accept the dragon's opinion as a right one due to the fact that it is most likely that his views of the future are dictated by his whims. As a result what we really can see is that there are things to be achieved in our lifetime.

"I have come to perceive, lies in the perception that the solemnity and grandeur of the universe rise through the slow process of unification in which the diversities of existence are utilized, and nothing, nothing is lost."

In this quote, Ork sees how that all things build upon each other and that "Nothing is lost" when it comes to seeing the pathway of humanity. Through this we can see that humanity is hopeful after all.
"He told how the earth was first built, long ago: said that the greatest of gods made the world, every wonder-bright plain and the turning seas, and set out as signs of his victory the sun and moon, great lamps for light to land dwellers, kingdom torches and adorned the fields with all colors and shapes, made limbs and leaves and gave life to the every creature that moves on land."

Through this quote we are exposed to an world that contains orderliness and one that we have to mention the fact that it is not a "pointless accident" as seems to be thought by both Grendel and the Dragon.
"Go seek out gold and sit on it."

This passage is a direct counterargument to view of a pointless world as thought of by the dragon. If it was so pointless why would the dragon be so concerned about gold, afterall we have to accept that if the world is pointless gold is also pointless. Is the dragon conceding here that some points in life are not so pointless after all?
"When drunken men argued, pitting theory against theory, bludgeoning each other's absurdities, she came between them wordless, uncondemning, pouring out mead like a mother's love, and they were softened, reminded of their humanness, exactly as they might have been softened by the cry of a child in danger, or an old man's suffering, or spring."

In the midst of all this chaos we do see that there is some order after collaborating the dragon statement "go seek out gold" we can in effect accept the fact that the world is is simply not a mistake and that some things such as gold and Weathlethow keeps order.
Final Verdict:
Although I really enjoyed the scholastic debate, in the end I do have to make a choice of who wins and loses. In the end I was more persuaded by the opposition's arguments due to greater reasoning and logic that was implemented by that team. For example, the opposition were able to disprove the proposition's witnesses by asking critical "trap" questions. Also, the amount of teamwork was simply amazing since we were able to easily support each other in the trial. As a result, the opposition takes the debate home.
